How much does a real estate license cost in Washington?

The total cost to get your real estate license in Washington is $478. In your initial licensing process, you will need to sit for an exam with PSI which costs $210 and get a fingerprint background check from Identogo which costs around $45. Once you have completed both of those, you will need to submit your licensing application along with a $223 fee.

The total cost to maintain your real estate license in Washington is roughly $223 (every two years), which is the cost to renew your license with the Department of Licensing. Note, while working as a broker, you will also need to pay for additional services like: desk fees, various memberships, and other various costs.

Is the Washington real estate exam online or in-person?

Although the real estate exam is a multiple-choice exam completed on a computer, you must go in-person to a PSI testing facility to take the exam. Make sure to bring two forms of ID, an eligible calculator*, and a pencil – no other items will be allowed in the testing room.

*Only non-programmable calculators that are silent, battery operated, do not have paper tape printing capabilities, and do not have an alphabet keyboard will be allowed in the examination site.

How long does it take to get a real estate license in Washington?

You can get a real estate license within a month of beginning your courses. Here are some deadlines to give you an idea of what the timeline for getting a license looks like:

– Real estate courses – Minimum of 90 hours is required, can be taken within a maximum of 2 years from your purchase date
– Real estate certificates – Expire 2 years after certificate is acquired (Certificate is issued upon passing a course final exam)
– Real estate exam scheduling – Eligibility is processed within 2-3 business days of acquiring both Fundamentals and Practices certifications. Exam dates are usually available within 24-72 hours of obtaining eligibility.
– Real estate exam results – Exam results with a passed score are usually sent to the Department of Licensing within 2 weeks of passing the exam. These results are valid for 1 year from the date of testing.
– Fingerprint background check – Available dates are usually available within 1-7 days of scheduling. Completed results are sent to the Department of Licensing within 30 days.
– Licensing Application – The application can be completed online or by mailing in a form. The quickest way to receive your license is to apply online through the Department of Licensing’s SAW (SecureAccess Washington) portal.
