Get a California Real Estate Broker's License




Broker's License Requirements

To get your California real estate broker's license, you must:
  • be at least 18 years old,
  • be honest and truthful,
  • have at least two years of experience within the last five years as a full-time real estate licensee,
  • have successfully completed 8 courses (24 semester hours) of education, including:
    • These five required courses:
      • Real Estate Practice
      • Real Estate Appraisal
      • Legal Aspects of Real Estate
      • Real Estate Financing
      • either Real Estate Economics or Accounting*
    • Plus three courses chosen from this list:
      • Advanced Legal Aspects of Real Estate
      • Advanced Appraisal*
      • Advanced Financing*
      • Real Estate Principles
      • Property Management
      • Escrow*
      • Business Law*
      • Real Estate Office Administration*
      • Mortgage Loan Brokering and Lending*
      • Common Interest Developments*
      • Computer Applications in Real Estate*
  • pass the state broker's license exam.

California Real Estate Practice

This practical real estate course offers guidelines in areas such as listing agreements and purchase and sale agreements, pricing property, qualifying the purchaser, agency relationships, financing, and other information pertinent to the real estate practitioner.



Real Estate Appraisal

Real Estate Appraisal gives you an overview of both the theoretical and practical aspects of the subject, with an emphasis on residential appraisal practices. It provides you with a solid understanding of collection and analysis of appraisal data, analyzing the highest and best use of a property, estimating cost and depreciation, selecting and analyzing comparable properties, the three methods of appraisal, and preparing appraisal reports.



Real Estate Financing

Financing Residential Real Estate gives you an overview of both the lending process and the guidelines used to qualify homebuyers for mortgage loans. It covers loan underwriting standards, conventional loans, FHA loans, VA loans, seller financing, fair lending, and predatory lending.



Legal Aspects of Real Estate
Purchased separately: $89

 

Legal Aspects of Real Estate offers an overview of the legal concepts that come up most often in real estate transactions. This course discusses the laws governing the ownership and sale of real estate in California, examines common problems in real estate transactions, and provides examples from actual court cases.



Real Estate Economics
Purchased separately: $69

 

Real Estate Economics offers an overview of the economic aspects of real estate. It discusses the government's role in the economy, important economic features of real estate, regional and community analysis, community growth patterns, housing markets, commercial and industrial markets, rural and recreational property markets, land use controls and real estate development, and the income tax aspects of investment.

Any or all of these three elective courses: California Real Estate Principles, Property Management, or Advanced Legal Aspects of Real Estate.
